Alerts on SSL Certificates

Why ?

The Toile-Libre SSL certificates are signed by Cacert which is probably not considerate as “trust” by your browser or operating system. We judge that it is up to you to decide whether or not the organization is confident, and not your browser or operating system. There is no question that one pays (dear) a certificate to delegate the confidence you must show to a so-called certification authority. The SSL certificates serve to verify the server identity when you set an encrypted connection with which the data (login, password, content) will not be intercepted.

Recent attacks against certification authorities (see also this alert newsletter or on the Tor’s blog) and their consequences for example in Iran comfort us in this position. The Tunisian experience also invites us to prudence maj: 19/01/2014 The certificate has been updated, and its Fingerprint has changed.

How to proceed ? The simplest is to install the Cacert root certificate (more details on the corresponding Cacert page).

Otherwise, you can add an exception to allow our certificates (or those of Cacert). Whether it’s about HTTPS access of web spaces, on the panel, on emails or on our tools, you may have to do this action. With Mozilla Firefox, in pictures: https https
